Matt Gauthier is an associate in Crowell & Moring’s Washington, D.C. office. He is a member of the firm’s Antitrust & Competition and Environment & Natural Resources groups. Matt is also involved in mass tort medical device product liability litigation.
Representative engagements include:
- Defending a global hospitality company in a class action litigation and related lawsuit involving an alleged conspiracy to eliminate competition for branded keyword search advertising.
- Defending a major health insurance company in an antitrust litigation regarding allergy testing and allergen immunotherapy.
- Representing a Fortune 100 construction company and a major life sciences company in various CERCLA litigations.
- Motions practice for a medical device manufacturer in product liability litigation in multiple jurisdictions in the U.S.
Matt maintains an active pro bono practice, which has included representing a family seeking asylum from El Salvador and assisting with the defense for a criminal trial in Maryland.
Matt received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he was internal supervising editor for the Berkeley Journal of International Law and recipient of the Continuing Education of the Bar Award for Excellence in Legal Research and Writing. While in law school, Matt also served as a teaching assistant for written and oral advocacy, worked as an extern for the Oakland City Attorney’s Office, and volunteered with the California Asylum Representation Clinic and the San Francisco VA Medical Center free legal clinic. Matt received his B.A. from Michigan State University with a major in political science.
