Dylan Burstein is a counsel in Crowell & Moring’s Los Angeles office, where he practices in the Litigation Group. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, including intellectual property disputes, contract actions, and health care litigation.

From 2017 to 2018, Dylan served as a law clerk for the Honorable André Birotte Jr. in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

Dylan received his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he graduated Order of the Coif. During law school, Dylan completed a judicial externship in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and was a law clerk at the Ventura County Public Defender’s Office. He continues his work in the criminal justice arena through pro bono representation of individuals seeking parole.

Representative Matters

  • Defended inventors of pharmaceutical compounds in a patent inventorship bench trial.  Following trial, the court entered judgment in favor of the clients.
  • Represented a major research university as a plaintiff in a patent licensing dispute with a pharmaceutical company. The case settled favorably during trial.
  • Represented a tech company seeking hundreds of millions of dollars in damages in a breach of contract action in California. The case settled favorably weeks before trial. 
  • Represented an aviation company in a trademark dispute. The case settled. 
  • Defended a Medicare Advantage Organization in multiple disputes with health care providers that sued for alleged underpayment. The client prevailed in each case after filing successful motions to dismiss.
