Danie Beukman is a director at C&M International with experience in trade and regulatory policy, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy. Danie joined C&M International from the New Zealand government, where he spent more than a decade working as a diplomat and trade negotiator.

Danie's professional experience includes work on investment, services, agriculture, and development matters in a broad range of countries in Africa and the Asia-Pacific. Most recently, Danie served as deputy chief of mission at New Zealand's High Commission in South Africa, where his work included crafting business engagement strategies and resolving market access issues across a number of southern African countries. During his diplomatic career, Danie also worked at the New Zealand Embassy to the United States. His work in the Embassy's Trade Section included building engagement strategies relating to the Trans-Pacific Partnership, leading efforts to establish a coalition to phase out fossil fuel subsidies, and engaging in Congressional advocacy on trade, climate change, and immigration issues.

As a former trade negotiator, Danie has built extensive experience in trade and investment: he developed negotiating positions for New Zealand's investment negotiations with China and the Gulf Cooperation Council and served as New Zealand's lead investment negotiator for a number of trade negotiations, including the Australia/New Zealand-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement.

Danie holds a master of philosophy in international relations from the University of Cambridge, where he wrote his thesis on the power and influence of the chair in multilateral negotiations. He also earned undergraduate degrees in law and political science from the University of Canterbury.
