Colleen M. Johnson is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Crowell & Moring, where she practices in the White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement and Mass Tort, Product, and Consumer Litigation groups. Colleen represents a wide variety of corporate clients in white collar criminal defense matters, regulatory enforcement actions, government investigations, and internal investigations. She also counsels large corporations in product risk-assessment and regulatory compliance, including matters with the CPSC, NHTSA, and other agencies.
Representative Matters
- Representing a major corporation in an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice into allegations of illegal agreements among competitors regarding recruiting and hiring.
- Representing a large information technology corporation in response to an external audit request from a major vendor.
- Counseling a major corporation in a State Attorney General investigation into allegations regarding the sale of unsafe consumer products.
- Counseling major e-commerce and retail corporations on product risk assessments and regulatory compliance, including counseling on CPSC regulations and voluntary standards.
- Conducting due diligence of medical practitioners and medical device experts for the defense of medical device and pharmaceutical companies facing product liability lawsuits.
Colleen is also active in pro bono matters, advising local organizations on various liability issues. Recently, she advised a church regarding best practices for conducting a volunteer program during the COVID-19 pandemic, and a health clinic regarding liability stemming from environmental conditions on the clinic premises.
Colleen received her J.D. from Duke University School of Law. While at Duke, she served as a content editor for the Duke Law & Technology Review and worked as a Student Attorney in the Duke Law Health Justice Clinic, representing indigent clients in appeals of their Medicaid, SSI, and SSDI disability benefits decisions. Colleen graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley, where she studied Anthropology and Legal Studies.
