Christie L. Stahlke is a counsel in Crowell & Moring's Antitrust Group. Christie's practice involves counseling clients on a wide range of antitrust issues, including experience in merger compliance, the interaction of antitrust and intellectual property law, business planning, conduct investigations, and competitor collaborations. Her antitrust experience spans multiple industries, in particular, technology, telecommunications, health care, aerospace, energy/natural resources, and chemicals. Christie has represented clients before the Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, Federal Communications Commission, and European Commission. Christie also represents clients litigating monopolization, conspiracy, and other anticompetitive conduct claims.

Christie's recent merger experience includes:

  • Representation of Humana in its proposed sale to Aetna
  • Representation of AT&T in its acquisition of DirecTV
  • Representation of Clean Harbors in its acquisition of Thermo Fluids
  • Representation of a third party in connection with the Federal Trade Commission's investigation of the Nielsen/Arbitron merger
  • Representation of AT&T in its acquisition of LEAP Wireless
  • Representation of AT&T in various purchases of wireless spectrum
  • Representation of UTC in the sale of Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne to GenCorp
  • Representation of AT&T in its acquisition of Corr Wireless
  • Representation of UTC in its acquisition of Goodrich Aerospace
  • Representation of AT&T in its proposed acquisition of T-Mobile USA
  • Representation of A.O. Smith in the sale of its Electrical Products Company to Regal Beloit

Christie's recent investigation, counseling, and litigation experience includes:

  • Representation of a major wireless communications company in federal court litigation seeking to determine FRAND terms for the licensing of 3G and 4G LTE standard essential mobile telecommunications patents.
  • Representation of a major multi-national corporation in connection with an investigation by the Federal Trade Commission into potential monopolization and abuse of the standard-setting process.
  • Counseling a variety of clients regarding potential antitrust liability associated with horizontal and vertical conduct.
  • Conducting antitrust compliance auditing and training for clients in the U.S. and abroad, including advice regarding standard-setting, patent pool, and trade association activities.
  • Representation of DuPont in defense of a Sherman Act Section 1 class action litigation alleging conspiracy to fix the price of titanium dioxide.

Christie is a dedicated member of the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law, including the Intellectual Property Committee, where she is co-editor of Public Domain, the Committee's newsletter, as well as a regular contributor to the weekly newsletter, tidBITS. 

In addition, Christie maintains an active pro bono practice and represents individuals seeking asylum and family members involved in custody disputes.

Christie received her J.D. cum laude from the American University's Washington College of Law. While at American, Christie was a member of the American University Administrative Law Review and the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition team. Christie is proficient in French and is a former concert violinist.
