Benjamin Wastler is an associate in Crowell & Moring's Washington, D.C. office and is a member of the Antitrust Group, where he represents clients in litigation matters.    

Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Ben was an associate with the New York and Washington, D.C. offices of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where his practice focused on civil litigation, complex business litigation, and white collar crime and securities enforcement,including antitrust and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) investigations, and compliance counseling. 

Representative Engagements

  • Currently representing DuPont in defense of Sherman Act Section 1 litigation alleging conspiracy to fix the price of titanium dioxide.
  • Represented global financial services company in international cartel investigations conducted by the criminal, competition, and regulatory authorities in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
  • Held a leadership role in three-year FCPA compliance monitorship of a multinational tobacco company in connection with its settlements with the Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission.
  • Represented telecommunications company against more than a dozen causes of action, sounding primarily in fraud, misrepresentation, and breach of contract, in a major real estate dispute.

Ben also maintains an active pro bono practice. He has successfully represented clients in shelter and housing matters, including negotiating the restoration of a tenant's Section 8 housing subsidy. In addition, he successfully negotiated a settlement on behalf of a transgender client in an employment discrimination case of first impression in the Superior Court of New Jersey. 

Ben graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University with a B.S. in international politics. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School, where he served as editor-in-chief of the International & Comparative Law Review.
