Adeoye O. Johnson is an associate with the International Trade Group in Crowell & Moring's Washington, D.C. office.

Adeoye's practice covers the full range of U.S. regulations regarding international trade, including export controls administered by the Department of Commerce and economic sanctions administered by the Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). He also has experience in import regulatory compliance administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), antiboycott regimes, various aspects of international trade litigation, and due diligence regarding international mergers and acquisitions.

Adeoye's recent experiences include:

  • Representing a private equity fund in international trade related due diligence with respect to its acquisition of a multinational travel services company.
  • Drafting a license request for OFAC on behalf of a Fortune 500 management consulting company.
  • Representing an international cargo transit company regarding the Montreal Convention.

Additionally, Adeoye maintains an active pro bono practice. He currently advises a nonprofit on export controls and sanctions matters related to providing medical and humanitarian services in embargoed destinations. He is also involved in Crowell & Moring’s bi-weekly tutoring program with Plummer Elementary School.

Prior to joining the firm, Adeoye participated in the Coro™ Fellows Program in Public Affairs, a graduate level experiential leadership program. As a Coro Fellow in St. Louis, Adeoye conducted a series of projects across various sectors of public affairs, including nonprofit, labor, government, politics, and business.

Adeoye received his J.D. from Howard University School of Law, cum laude, where he was a merit scholar and served as senior publications and submissions editor on the Howard Law Journal. He received his A.B. in political science from Washington University in St. Louis, where he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and served in the Lock and Chain Sophomore Honorary.
