Washington Lawyers' Committee’s 50th Anniversary Articles Symposium Features George D. Ruttinger

Washington – May 6, 2019: As it celebrates its 50th anniversary, the Washington Lawyers’ Committee has published a set of articles in the Howard Law Journal, including one written by Crowell & Moring’s George D. Ruttinger.

The article, A Report on the Committee's Fair Housing Project, was one of seven retrospectives released at a symposium held at Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, D.C., and was followed by the committee’s annual Founders’ Reception.

Ruttinger’s article highlights the significance of the committee’s role in promoting fair housing in the D.C. metropolitan area and nationally. Established in 1970s, the committee’s fair housing project “has been at the forefront of some of the most significant cases regarding race and national origin discrimination, including cases involving racial violence and hate groups,” Ruttinger wrote. The article summarizes the project over the past 33 years, and serves as an update to a 1984 report examining the project’s start.

Ruttinger is a partner in the firm's Government Contracts and International Dispute Resolution groups and serves as its General Counsel. He has represented domestic and foreign clients in international arbitrations and in complex antitrust litigation and mass torts cases. His pro bono work includes serving on the board of directors of the Equal Rights Center, the Washington’s leading civil rights enforcement agency, and the executive committee of the Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs.
