Two Crowell & Moring Antitrust Lawyers Recognized In Global Competition Review’s "Women In Antitrust" Special Report
Washington, D.C. - May 1, 2009: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that two of its Antitrust Group lawyers were featured in the 2009 Global Competition Review's (GCR) 100 "Women in Antitrust" survey. Washington, D.C. partner Shari Ross Lahlou and New York partner Christine L. White were included in the special report, which features the careers and contributions of competition specialists in numerous organizations worldwide. GCR is among the leading international journals of competition policy and regulation.
When asked about how women can overcome challenges in the antitrust field, Lahlou told GCR, "There are certain challenges to being a woman in this field that sometimes make it harder to have your voice heard. But with persistence, you can demonstrate that you have the skills, substance and talent to be a real asset to any project. Then gender becomes irrelevant and it is only a question of who can deliver the best result."
Lahlou is a member of the firm's Antitrust and Litigation groups and her practice focuses primarily on antitrust and other complex litigation, including class actions and multidistrict proceedings. She has successfully litigated cases at the trial and appellate levels in several federal and state courts nationwide, and has participated in a number of bench and jury trials. She has particular expertise in defending clients in antitrust cartel cases, and has also defended and prosecuted monopolization claims, defended tying and patent infringement claims, and defended and prosecuted claims related to major commercial contract disputes.
White told GCR, "I appreciate the trailblazing accomplishments of earlier generations of women, and feel fortunate to practice at a time of increasing diversity, including on the bench, in client offices and at management and partnership levels."
White is a member of the firm's Health Care and Antitrust groups and concentrates her practice in antitrust counseling, antitrust civil litigation and trade regulation matters. She provides counseling on a range of antitrust issues, including mergers, joint ventures and other collaborations among competitors in diverse industries. Her clients have included corporate, trade association and health care industry clients, including local and national health care systems, multi-institutional systems, hospital districts, third party payors, provider network organizations, physician groups, and long-term care facilities.
