Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law Honors Crowell & Moring with Robert F. Mullen Pro Bono Award

New York – December 9, 2022: The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law honored Crowell & Moring with its 2022 Robert F. Mullen Pro Bono Award for the firm’s exemplary volunteer legal services, noting its “tremendous work across civil rights issue areas.” The award was presented at the Lawyers’ Committee’s 2022 Annual Awards Reception in New York City on December 8.

Named in memory of Robert F. Mullen, a former co-chair of the organization and a staunch advocate for equal justice and pro bono legal services, the award annually honors one law firm that has provided “extraordinary pro bono legal services on behalf of Lawyers' Committee client or matter.”

The committee singled out the work that the firm did on Georgia State Conference of the NAACP v. State of Georgia, which deals with the unconstitutional racial and partisan gerrymandering of state house districts in Georgia, and Shepard v. Kita, a case involving a white mob breaking into a Black family’s North Carolina home and terrorizing them. The firm also supported research regarding the Dobbs v. Jackson Health leaked decision concerning reproductive rights.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from the Lawyers’ Committee,” said Philip T. Inglima, chair of Crowell & Moring. “Our lawyers say that the work they do on behalf of the Lawyers’ Committee is some of the most fulfilling and important work of their careers. We look forward to continuing to build this important partnership.”
