Crowell & Moring's Janet Levine Recognized Among Daily Journal's "Top 100 Women Litigators" and Law360's "Top Female Trial Attorneys"

Washington, D.C. – May 30, 2012: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that Janet Levine, a partner and chair of the firm's White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement Group, was named to the Daily Journal's annual list of California's "Top 100 Women Litigators" for the fourth consecutive year, published on May 9. Levine was also selected as one of only 15 attorneys included in Law360's "Top Female Trial Attorneys" list and was featured in a May 14 article that can be read here

For both awards, Levine was recognized for her groundbreaking role in vindicating Lindsey Manufacturing chief financial officer by vacating previous convictions and winning a complete dismissal of the indictment based on prosecutorial misconduct. The case had been the first-ever trial against a corporate defendant charged under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). In addition, she was highlighted for her most recent success in defending the former chief financial officer of BCI Aircraft Leasing Inc.

The Daily Journal award acknowledges the victories of female attorneys and celebrates the advancements of women in law. Daily Journal is the publisher of both Los Angeles Daily Journal and San Francisco Daily Journal. The Law360 series honors the achievements of the top 15 female trial attorneys who have scored landmark victories for their clients.

Levine is a trial and appellate attorney, with extensive experience in securities, health care and tax fraud and all manner of public corruption matters. She has represented politicians, judges, directors, officers and executives and licensed professionals in myriad industries, providing defenses against governmental accusations of wrongdoing. Her clients are local, national, and international and include individuals, entities, and government organizations. In addition to her role as chair-elect of the American Bar Association's Criminal Justice Section, she is also a member of the Criminal Justice Section Council, the Section's policy-making and advisory board. She is a past co-chair of the American Bar Association's White Collar Crime Committee, a position that has been held by only one other woman. Levine is also a past-chair of the American Bar Association's West Coast Regional Subcommittee on White Collar Crime. In addition, she is a past president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
