Washington – April 1, 2021: Patexia has named Crowell & Moring a “Most Active” and “Best Performing” law firm for Section 337 unfair import investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission in its 2021 ITC Intelligence Report.

The firm was ranked one of the Top 15 Best Performing Law Firms overall based on outcome for its clients before the Commission, including a Top 10 ranking representing respondents. Patexia also ranked Crowell & Moring as one of the Top 70 Most Active Law Firms overall, including a Top 50 ranking for respondents.

Partners Kathryn L. Clune and Joshua Pond were also ranked by Patexia for their work before the ITC. Clune, who has established the firm’s practice over the past 14 years, was ranked as one of the Top 50 Best Performing Lawyers overall, placing in the Top 30 for her respondent clients. Pond was ranked as one of the Top 100 Most Active Lawyers practicing before the Commission. Pond was also noted as the fourth Most Active ITC practitioner to move his practice in the past two years, having arrived at Crowell & Moring in October 2020.

Patexia’s ITC Intelligence Report analyzes over 350 law firms and 7,500 individual attorneys on relevant filings and outcomes from a six-year period ending in December 2020 and provides rankings based on activity, performance, and results in ITC Section 337 investigations.

The firm’s Intellectual Property Group helps clients across the United States and abroad realize the full value of their intellectual property and defend it against unauthorized use. Section 337 litigation presents a number of unique challenges stemming from the intersection of two complex and highly focused areas of law: intellectual property and international trade. Crowell & Moring's combination of IP and international trade experience, coupled with extensive litigation capabilities, allows the firm to successfully represent clients in all aspects of a Section 337 investigation.

In conducting research, Patexia observed that over the past year, the ITC Section 337 practice has become more active, displaying double-digit growth in the number of ITC investigations in 2020 compared to 2019.
