Crowell & Moring Partner Cari N. Stinebower Named to Global Investigations Review’s 2018 ‘Women in Investigations’ List

Washington – July 5, 2018: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that Cari N. Stinebower, co-chair of the firm’s Investigations Practice and partner in the International Trade and White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement groups, has been named to Global Investigations Review’s 2018 “Women in Investigations” list. The list features 100 outstanding female investigations lawyers from 15 countries, as selected by GIR editors.

Stinebower told GIR that investigations are a natural outgrowth of the day-to-day counselling work the firm provides. “In order to know your client and provide the best-quality tailored service, it is important to be able to wear both the counselling hat and the investigations hat – so that the client is prepared when there is exposure to potential issues,” she said. “Every client – unless they are completely out of business – is at some risk for a foot fault.” She also discussed the rapid growth of sanctions since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and the challenge of adapting the compliance functions across industry groups as a result.

Stinebower counsels clients on compliance with U.S. economic sanctions, Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws and regulations, export controls, and anti-corruption/anti-bribery laws and regulations.

Before joining Crowell & Moring, Stinebower served as counsel for the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control and as a Programs Officer for OFAC, where she advised on sanctions and anti-terrorism legislation, drafted United Nations Security Council resolutions and related executive orders.
