Crowell & Moring International Director Andrew Blasi to Serve as Visiting Faculty with the International Anti-Corruption Academy

Washington – December 18, 2020: Andrew Blasi, director at Crowell & Moring International, will serve as a visiting faculty member of the International Anti-Corruption Academy, an international organization and educational institution based in Laxenburg, Austria and registered with the United Nations. With a mission to promote international cooperation in the fight against corruption through partnerships with public agencies and the private sector, Blasi will focus on the role of collective action initiatives in reinforcing ethical conduct amidst COVID-19 response and recovery. His work with IACA builds upon his existing role as Stakeholder Liaison for the Business Ethics for APEC SMEs Initiative, the world’s largest public-private partnership focused on integrity in health-related sectors, as well as his service on the B20 Task Force on Integrity and Compliance.

“COVID-19 has underscored the crucial role of inclusive action by all stakeholders – government, industry, and civil society – to work together in the common cause of preventing corruption. For many sectors, including those in healthcare, this requires diverse parties to break down complex siloes in how they work and think in order to drive high-standard alignment in daily practices,” said Blasi. “Make no mistake, companies and governments that fail to embrace ethical conduct and collective action after this pandemic will fail. At minimum, they will fail to meet the expectations of society and patients. At maximum, they risk rapid loss in public and/or costumer trust. It is an honor for me to join with the stellar faculty at IACA to help train the next wave of anti-corruption leaders.”

Launched in 2010, IACA is an international, inter-governmental organization that consists of 80 members, including four inter-governmental organizations and 76 UN member states. IACA delivers and facilitates anti-corruption education and training for professionals and practitioners from all sectors, including government officials. IACA also provides research and platforms for dialogue and networking, bringing together field specialists that allow for the development of sustainable strategies and guidelines to prevent and fight corruption.

Blasi has a decade of experience guiding the development and management of large-scale, multi-sectoral partnerships. He and his colleagues at Crowell & Moring International, including Patricia Wu and Katie Nunner, have substantial expertise in facilitating public-private initiative’s to strengthen ethical business practices around the world, including in the Asia-Pacific, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Since 2016, Crowell & Moring International has supported the launch and implementation of nine economy-wide agreements to foster ethical collaboration across health systems. Other areas of focus for Blasi and his colleagues include code of ethics development and implementation, business ethics training for small and medium-sized enterprises, ethical third-party intermediary relationships, and government strategies to encourage ethical business conduct.
