Crowell & Moring International Director Andrew Blasi Selected to B20 Task Force on Integrity and Compliance for Saudi Arabia G20 Host Year

Washington – January 28, 2020: Andrew Blasi, director at Crowell & Moring International, was selected to serve as a member of the Business Twenty (B20) Task Force on Integrity and Compliance during the Saudi Arabia G20 host year in 2020. Together with business leaders from across G20 member states, Blasi will support the development of the 2020 B20 Communiqué concerning policy recommendations to G20 leaders that strengthen ethical business conduct. Blasi initiated his service in Riyadh this month for the B20 Inception Event and inaugural Task Force meeting. He will continue through the B20 Summit in October 2020.

“Integrity in business creates stronger, sustainable economies. And adherence by industries to international best practices in ethical conduct fosters high-standard trade, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises,” said Blasi. “I welcome the opportunity to share knowledge from around the world as the B20 calls attention to integrity through the Task Force. It is time we realize progress in the implementation of commitments already made and many of the world’s largest economies in the G20 are leading the way.”

The B20 is the official G20 dialogue with the business community. As the voice of the private sector to the G20, it represents the global business community across all G20 member states and all economic sectors. Formed in 2010, it is the first engagement group of the G20. The B20 supports the G20 through specific policy recommendations, the consolidated representation of business interests and economic expertise. It also fosters dialogue between the public and private sector. Analogous to the G20, the B20 does not have a permanent secretariat and is an informal forum rather than an organization. Its summits are held annually, usually before the respective G20 summits.

Blasi has a decade of experience guiding the development and management of large-scale, multi-sectoral partnerships around the world. He and his colleagues at Crowell & Moring International, including Patricia Wu and Katie Nunner, have substantial expertise in facilitating public-private initiative’s to strengthen ethical business practices around the world, including in the Asia-Pacific, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Since 2016, Crowell & Moring International has supported the launch and implementation of nine economy-wide agreements – including in five G20 countries – to foster ethical collaboration across health systems. Other areas of focus for Blasi and his colleagues include code of ethics development and implementation, business ethics training for small and medium-sized enterprises, ethical third party intermediary relationships, and government strategies to encourage ethical business conduct.
