Crowell & Moring Aviation Partner Speaks at Recent FAA Aircraft Registration, Lien & Security Interests Conference

Washington, D.C. – January 29, 2003: Eileen Gleimer, a partner with Crowell & Moring's Aviation Group, spoke at the FAA Aircraft Registration, Lien & Security Interests Conference in Miami, Florida on February 10-11, 2003. The conference provided a comprehensive overview of legal, practical and business issues relating to FAA Aircraft Registration, Lien, and Security Interests. The conference, geared toward lawyers and business people who work in the field of aircraft finance, focused on the statutes, regulations, and opinions of the Aeronautical Center Counsel and unpublished practices of the FAA that govern the registration of aircraft and the recording of liens against aircraft in the United States.

Eileen participated in the session entitled, "Behind the Scenes of an Aircraft Closing," which addressed the variety of issues that are covered when preparing for a closing on an aircraft, including documentation, registration, operations, financing, non consensual liens, escrow arrangements and closing procedures.

The conference also addressed many of the critical issues in the aviation industry, including, Where does the Cape Town Treaty stand now? When will the Treaty and Protocol be adopted by the United States? How will it impact aircraft finance? Several people who have been instrumental in writing, negotiating and finalizing the Treaty and Protocol attended the seminar to answer these questions and share their thoughts on the status of the Treaty, the time-table of its implementation and how it will affect business. Other topics covered include FAA Legal Update, Regulation of Fractional Ownership Operations, Liability and War Risk Insurance, and Aircraft Foreclosure and Repossession.

Eileen has practiced aviation law for two decades and is widely recognized as one of the top business aviation attorneys in the United States. She advises a wide range of clients on commercial transactions involving the purchase, sale, lease and financing of business and transport category aircraft and structuring aircraft ownership and operations to ensure FAA and DOT regulatory compliance. These clients include large and small businesses owning, operating and managing corporate aircraft; leasing companies; fixed-base operators; repair facilities; fractional ownership program managers and participants and e-commerce companies selling corporate aviation services. Ms. Gleimer is a member of the Board of Advisors of the Journal of Air Law & Commerce.
