Crowell & Moring Advises Geely Group on Acquisition of Manganese Bronze
Washington, D.C. – February 4, 2013: Crowell & Moring's corporate team in London has advised China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely Group) on its acquisition of substantially all the assets and business of Manganese Bronze Holdings plc, the maker of London's iconic black taxi.
The deal, which will safeguard production of the vehicles in the UK, was agreed with PricewaterhouseCoopers, who were appointed administrators of the business last October.
Geely said it would continue to assemble the TX4 model at the Manganese Bronze plant in Coventry.
The Crowell & Moring team, based in the firm's London office, was led by partner Joel Wheeler, assisted by counsel David Willbe and associate Mekalai Thambiah. Real estate advice was provided by Tony Coyne at Blake Lapthorn.
Joel Wheeler said, "Working on an acquisition that helps safeguard jobs in the UK is especially satisfying in the current economic climate."
