Chair of Crowell & Moring's White Collar & Regulatory Group, Janet Levine, Named as One of Daily Journal's "2012 Top 100 Lawyers"

Washington, D.C. – September 12, 2012: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that partner and chair of the firm's White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement Group, Janet Levine, has been named to the 15th annual Daily Journal "2012 Top 100 Lawyers" list. The publication recognizes the 100 California attorneys working on the most cutting-edge matters in litigation, regulation, and corporate transactions between January 1, 2011 and July 20, 2012.

The Daily Journal notes that in the past year Levine, "…became one of the first lawyers to defend an executive accused of violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act." After the trial, which lasted over five weeks, Levine obtained a dismissal with prejudice of all charges against her client based on prosecutorial misconduct (United States v. Aguilar, 10-1031(A)-AHM, U.S. District Court, Central District of California).

Levine is a trial and appellate attorney, with extensive experience in securities, health care and tax fraud, and all manner of public corruption matters. For over thirty years, she has provided a myriad of clients with successful defenses to governmental claims of wrongdoing, including publicly-traded and privately held companies and their officers and directors, government entities, licensed professionals, politicians, and judges. Her clients are local, national, and international and include individuals, entities, and government organizations.

In addition to her role as chair of the American Bar Association's Criminal Justice Section, she is also a member of the Criminal Justice Section Council, the Section's policy-making and advisory board. She is a past co-chair of the American Bar Association's White Collar Crime Committee, a position that has been held by only one other woman. Levine is also a past-chair of the American Bar Association's West Coast Regional Subcommittee on White Collar Crime. She previously served  president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.

In May 2012, Levine was also named to the Daily Journal's annual list of California's "Top 100 Women Litigators" for the fourth consecutive year, and was selected as one of only 15 attorneys included in Law360's "Top Female Trial Attorneys" list.

Daily Journal is the publisher of both Los Angeles Daily Journal and San Francisco Daily Journal.
