Please join us for a CLE presentation with members of the FBI’s Counterintelligence and Cyber Divisions of the New York Field Office, alongside Alexander Urbelis of Crowell & Moring’s Privacy & Cybersecurity group, formerly the Chief Information Security Officer of the NFL.
Domain names and the DNS can be used for fraud and are often the pre-cursors to sophisticated cyberattacks. Identifying the risks for your brand and identifying blind spots can minimize intellectual property, counterfeiting, and security risks.
Cybersecurity is very much on the minds of advisory firms and regulators alike. Recent enforcement and industry research indicates that companies and brands are struggling to get a handle on even basic domain name protections.
In this session, you will learn about a dangerous rift of responsibility that exists between legal departments and cybersecurity / IT, how to manage that rift, and how legal remedies for IP enforcement can be used to enhance an organization’s cybersecurity defenses. We will also showcase active threats in the Domain Name System that Alex has been tracking, ranging from counterfeit pharmaceutical marketplaces to advanced cyber adversaries targeting critical infrastructure and industries of the United States. And our FBI representatives will address how to reduce overall cyber risk in an organization and the importance of relationship-building with the FBI.
We look forward to an evening of insights and networking. Light bites and drinks will be served.
