Rob McNary is a counsel in Crowell & Moring's Antitrust Group in the Los Angeles office. His practice focuses on antitrust and complex commercial litigation. Recent representations include corporate client recovery actions against price-fixing cartels among electronic components suppliers in In re TFT-LCD (Flat Panel) Antitrust Litigation, In re Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) Antitrust Litigation and In re Optical Disk Drive Products Antitrust Litigation. He is also defending an owner of nuclear pharmacies in federal antitrust litigation alleging violations of Sections 1 and 2 of the Sherman Act, and a national health care provider in federal antitrust litigation alleging monopolization and attempted monopolization. Rob has litigated multiple cases involving leading technology companies, including representing a telecommunications company in litigation over the exclusive service provider relationship for iPhones. He has also represented a global financial services company in patent litigation brought by a primary competitor and a leading technology company in a trade secrets matter following the hiring of an employee by a competitor.

Rob is experienced with cases requiring testimony from multiple economic and technical experts, and he has supported experts offering testimony in antitrust and intellectual property cases. His recent experience includes assisting experts on reports, preparing experts for deposition and cross-examining opposing experts. He also enjoys counseling clients on trial strategy relating to expert testimony, and preparing expert witnesses for trial testimony.

Rob is actively involved in antitrust bar associations. He is the immediate past chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Antitrust and Unfair Business Practices Section, and co-author of multiple publications of the ABA Antitrust Section, including handbooks of the Economics, Exemptions & Immunities and Trade, Sports, & Professional Associations Committees. Rob was also appointed as Young Lawyer Representative of the American Bar Association Antitrust Section Economics Committee for 2014-15, and he has served as coordinator of the Section's Young Lawyer Representative program. He has also served as an articles editor for the journal, Competition, the official publication of the California State Bar Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law Section, and as a member of the Young Lawyers Division Advisory Committee for the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, Los Angeles Chapter. Rob has also been recognized as a "Southern California Super Lawyer - Rising Star" in Antitrust Litigation.

Rob received his B.A., public policy, and M.S., engineering-economic systems & operations research, from Stanford University. At Stanford, he was awarded the Firestone Medal for Excellence in Undergraduate Research for his econometric analysis of telecommunications competition regulation. He earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was a student fellow in law and economics, studying antitrust law and economics and completing price theory and industrial organization coursework in the economics department. During law school, Rob was a summer associate at an economic litigation consulting firm, where he supported economic and financial experts testifying in antitrust and securities litigation.

Before attending law school, Rob was a corporate finance analyst at J.P. Morgan Chase and a research analyst at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His economic research work focused on health care economics, supporting studies on the effects of cardiac specialty hospitals and integrated cardiac care diagnosis and treatment on the cost and quality of medical care.

Rob is admitted to practice law in California and New York. Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, he was an associate at another international law firm, where he worked primarily on complex multi-district litigation. Since moving to California from the East Coast, Rob has completed marathons in San Francisco, Big Sur, Napa, Chicago, Orange County, and Los Angeles.
