Jonathan Odell is a partner in Crowell & Moring's Washington, D.C. office and focuses his practice on transactional work with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, infrastructure and project development, joint ventures, and general corporate counseling. He has represented a broad range of clients in a variety of acquisition and divestiture transactions involving companies in energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and service industries. Jonathan also has represented clients in numerous project development transactions in connection with a wide variety of equity investments. Moreover, he has served as outside general counsel to for profit and not for profit companies, and corporate counsel to an array of private and publicly traded companies in connection with corporate restructurings, reorganizations, and an assortment of commercial transactions.
In connection with his work in this area, Jonathan has represented strategic buyers, leveraged buyout firms and other types of private investment firms in the acquisition and divestiture of publicly traded companies, private companies, and portfolio-companies.
Jonathan has been involved in the development of the following types of projects: natural gas, coal, wind and solar energy, pipelines, seawater desalination, and wastewater treatment in the United States and Mexico.
Jonathan has represented a broad range of clients in a variety of international transactions, including acquisitions, project development and financing transactions, and corporate restructurings involving the following countries: United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Gibraltar, Cayman Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands and Hong Kong.

Furthermore, Jonathan also has represented a broad range of private and public companies in connection with the formation of new business entities, joint ventures, stockholder agreements, employment agreements, and other general business contracts.
Jonathan received his B.S.S. in political science from Cornell College (1986) and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami (1994), where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and the associate editor on the Inter-America Law Review.
