Raja Mishra is an associate in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. He is a member of the firm's Government Contracts and Torts practice groups. His practice involves bid protest litigation before GAO and the Court of Federal Claims, regulatory counseling, and advising clients on Federal government fraud and false claims investigations. He is also actively involved in litigating pro bono child welfare cases.
Recent matters include:
- Defended major insurer in $3 billion health care bid protest;
- Assisted international maritime company in responding to NCIS subpoena;
- Defended manufacturer against False Claims Act prosecution related to alleged Nigerian bribes;
- Represented international logistics firm in defamation and corporate espionage suit against competitor;
- Conducted internal investigation for major metropolitan airport regarding alleged contracting improprieties;
- Defended consortium of energy companies against first-ever global warming-related tort suit.
Raja received his law degree from Cornell Law School. While in law school, he was an editor of the Cornell Journal of Law & Public Policy, and worked for the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division and the Honorable Paul L. Friedman of U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. After law school, Raja was an associate in the Maryland Office of Attorney General, Opinions & Advice section, and co-wrote the Campaign Finance Report of the Attorney General (2011).
Prior to law school, Raja was an award-winning reporter at the Boston Globe, Washington Post, and Detroit Free Press, and covered President Clinton’s impeachment scandal, the Sept. 11 attacks, the 2004 presidential campaign, Hurricane Katrina, and numerous other major events.
