Kathleen Van De Loo is an associate in Crowell & Moring's New York office, practicing in the Litigation Group. She specializes in intellectual property law, with a focus on patent and trademark, litigation, prosecution, and counseling.
In the patent arena, Kathleen has experience in litigating patent cases involving a variety of technologies, including DNA labeling techniques, printing software and methods, pharmaceutical compounds, and business methods. Kathleen has advised clients on intellectual property matters in connection with corporate mergers by conducting due diligence of the target's intellectual property portfolio and reviewing it in light of the acquirer's needs. She has also brought foreign patents for several major automobile manufacturers to the national stage.
As a trademark litigator, Kathleen has participated in several major beverage industry trademark and trade dress cases, litigating them from inception to either settlement or trial. She has also handled oppositions before the Trademark Trade and Appeals Board, including advising clients through the entire process.
Kathleen graduated from Villanova University with a B.S. in mathematics and biology. She received her masters degree from New York University, with a focus on Biology and research on Alzheimer's disease. She received her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. Kathleen is a member of the New York and Connecticut bars as well as the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Western District of Wisconsin. She has practiced before a number of Federal courts, including Texas, New York, California, Delaware and Wisconsin.
