Jan Janssen is an associate at the Brussels office of Crowell & Moring since 2008, where he practices in National and International Dispute Resolution with a special focus on intellectual property, information technology and the liberalization of sectors. Jan’s practice primarily involves complex civil litigation, (international) arbitrations in a variety of industries including fashion, media, postal services, technology and telecommunications.
Jan also provides contractual advice and assists clients in protecting, managing and enforcing their intellectual property rights, including in transactional matters, such as distribution, agency, licensing, technology transfer, software development, outsourcing and service level agreements.
Jan has ample experience in domain name litigation, including UDRP proceedings and is closely involved in the liberalization of the domain name space, which is known as ICANN’s New gTLD Program. He assists various large brand owners in developing both proactive and defensive strategies towards ICANN’s New gTLD Program.
Jan started his legal studies at the University of Namur and obtained his master in Law at the Catholic University of Leuven. Jan's interest in international law made him participate in the successful team in the 2008 edition of the international Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition.
Jan is also a member of CEPINA 40 and of the Royal Institute for International Relations in Belgium.
