Young-OGEMID Begins Trial Phase

Global Arbitration Review for launching a trial phase of "Young-OGEMID." OGEMID, the Oil Gas Energy Mining Infrastructure and Investment Disputes Group, is a restricted internet forum for practicing international arbitrators, mediators and negotiators. Young-OGEMID is for associates only, however PhD students with a particular interest in arbitration may be eligible. Thus far, there have been over 130 registrations since the forum became active on June 16, 2008.
CMS Gas Award Wins Arbitration of the Year

Global Arbitration Review for his comments on the Oil Gas Energy Mining Infrastructure and Investment Disputes (OGEMID) group’s “Arbitration of the Year Award.” The winner in 2007, as voted on by users of OGEMID, was CMS Gas in
CMS Gas v. Argentina. Vasani ran the competition with Michael McIlwrath, senior counsel for GE Infrastructure.
Brazilians Keen on Energy Arbitration

Crowell & Moring International Dispute Resolution Group counsel Baiju Vasani was part of a group of U.S. arbitration specialists that attended a conference in Brazil organized by the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) and Brazilian Committee of Arbitration. The week long event focused on arbitration in Brazil under the ICDR and international energy arbitration.
