Retail: E-Commerce and Internet Privacy
For over a decade, Crowell & Moring attorneys have represented Internet companies in a broad spectrum of matters. We provide Internet retailers with strategic advice regarding privacy policies, email and online marketing practices, terms and conditions of sale and service, customer relationship management programs, disclosures and disclaimers. We also counsel clients regarding compliance with applicable statutes, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Electronic Communications Privacy Act and the Stored Communications Act.
Crowell & Moring attorneys also litigate on behalf of Internet companies. We represented a national clothing chain in defending against a lawsuit challenging the company's Internet sales tax practices. We also obtained dismissal on summary judgment of a class action filed against Yahoo! in federal court in Texas alleging various privacy-based claims under the Electronic Communications Protection Act, the Federal Wiretap Act, and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
