It's not just what we do. It's what we do differently.

Life Sciences - International Trade and EU

International trade policy issues for life sciences products can affect global market opportunities as well as domestic policies. C&M International works with clients to develop positive life sciences initiatives and manage risk in a variety of international fora, including the World Trade Organization, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, and the U.N. negotiations on the Biosafety Protocol. We also provide trade policy advice and counsel to multinational corporations in the life sciences industry as well as within a diverse range of business sectors from chemical to agriculture to drugs.

From our offices in London and Brussels, we counsel American clients doing business abroad on matters such as harmonization of laws, litigation at a European level, rules of the free movement of goods and services and intellectual property rights. In particular, the Brussels office advises on regulatory developments; assesses the impact of EU laws for business; assists in the participation in public consolations on proposed EU legislation; and monitors positions of EU institutions regarding international/WTO developments.

Representative International Trade and EU Practice matters:

  • Developed and implemented strategic negotiating positions for major agricultural business on international trade policy issues related to agricultural biotechnology in the WTO, OECD, APEC and the UN negotiations on an international biosafety protocol.
