European Practice - Product Regulation and Labeling Laws
An integral part of the advice we provide to clients expanding into new European markets is the provision of advice on product testing, certification and labeling. A wide variety of products are subject to self-certification, accredited laboratory testing and/or registration requirements before they may be placed on the market within the European Economic Area. Many items will also be subject to 'CE' marking or other labeling requirements arising under with national or EU legislation -- or both. We have advised clients on the requirement for products as varied as telephone switching equipment to aquarium testing kits to barbecue briquettes, and are particularly familiar with the European Biocides Directive and registration requirements for hazardous chemicals.
