It's not just what we do. It's what we do differently.

European Practice

We established our London office in 1991 in response to the internationalization of our clients' business activities and their increased focus on European markets. The continued expansion of our international practice and the growing importance of the European Community institutions led to the opening of our Brussels office in 1999.

Through these offices we provide a range of transactional, counseling, regulatory and litigation capabilities to our clients in Europe. Additionally, to guide companies navigating the new regulatory landscape created by the May 1 acceptance of 10 additional countries into the European Union, we have assembled an "Accession Team" focused on advising companies on the compliance issues they now face if they do business in any of these countries. Our lawyers provide practical and commercial solutions to the challenges presented by international commerce, and help to fill the local knowledge gap for clients operating in unfamiliar foreign markets.

In particular, we have many years of experience in advising U.S. companies doing business within the integrated European marketplace. We understand the key differences in business practice and terminology between the United States and Europe, and help clients to avoid the misunderstandings and traps commonly encountered in cross-border transactions.

Our European practice has been established as a multinational partnership of English solicitors and attorneys-at-law. It is regulated by the Law Society of England & Wales in the same manner as a firm of English solicitors. Within Europe, the firm name is "Crowell & Moring". Within the United States and elsewhere, the firm practices as "Crowell & Moring LLP".

We would be pleased to supply the names of clients with whom the London and Brussels offices have worked over a number of years and who have told us that they would be happy to speak with prospective clients about their experience of working with us.
