Energy Law - Federal Legislation
Crowell & Moring lawyers have represented individual energy companies, national trade associations, and substantial ad hoc groups of energy industry participants in the legislative process for the past 25 years.
We are experienced in the presentation of witnesses at Congressional hearings and in negotiating with private sector interests, Administration officials, and Congressional personnel in the drafting of bills to implement new federal energy policies affecting the nation's gas, oil, and electric power industries.
Together with our clients, we have made significant contributions to every major federal energy statute enacted since 1974. Likewise, we have been regularly involved for energy clients in the annual Congressional budgeting process, where many of the details of energy policy are reviewed and frequently modified. We are currently heavily engaged in the development of federal legislation to restructure the electric industry.
