Lawyers on our bankruptcy team have repeatedly played significant leading roles in mass tort and asbestos bankruptcy cases throughout the country. With our unique blend of expertise in the bankruptcy and insurance coverage areas, our lawyers have assumed a lead counsel role on behalf of insurers in some of the nation’s most important asbestos bankruptcy cases, including Combustion Engineering, Federal-Mogul, Mid-Valley (the Halliburton subsidiaries), Quigley, and JT Thorpe. These matters involved significant litigation, including trials and appeals to federal circuit courts.
In addition, the group regularly represents insurers in bankruptcy cases involving mass torts besides asbestos, such as silica, defective home heating furnaces, and defective home plumbing systems.
