Crowell & Moring’s Baiju Vasani Named to Global Arbitration Review’s "45 Under 45" List of Top International Arbitrators

Washington, D.C. – September 2, 2011: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that Baiju S. Vasani, a partner in the firm's International Arbitration practice, has been honored among Global Arbitration Review’s "45 Under 45" list of top international arbitrators.

The 45 arbitrators were selected from a candidate pool of 150 leading practitioners in the field. The final list was determined after careful consideration from Global Arbitration Review's editorial board and lawyers who appeared on the publication’s inaugural list of "45 Under 45" in 2006. The final list reflects a diverse, international selection of the leading figures of the 'young' international arbitration bar.

In a Global Arbitration Review interview, Vasani identifies his most influential mentors, "My now partner, Arif Ali, who taught me never to accept anything less than absolute excellence; and the late Thomas Wälde, who gave me the courage to question accepted wisdom."   He also had this advice for arbitration attorneys just starting out, "…if you are given the choice of which part of the case to work on, choose the fact section and get your hands dirty in the documents. Facts win cases."

Vasani, who is based in the Washington D.C. and London offices, focuses his practice exclusively on international investment and commercial arbitration covering various industries across the globe, and is regularly invited to speak and write on the topic. In addition to his practice at Crowell & Moring, Vasani is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University's Law Center, where he teaches international arbitration. He was previously described in Global Arbitration Review's list of “100 Top Arbitration Law Firms for 2010” as "a name for the future."
