Crowell & Moring compensates associates at a competitive level commensurate with its role as a leading law firm in Washington, and reviews salary levels annually to ensure that they stay competitive. Compensation for Summer Associates for 2008 is $3,000 per week. The starting salary for associates is currently $160,000 per year. In addition, associates who meet a minimum requirement of 1900 billable hours are eligible for year-end bonuses, which are awarded based on quality of performance, productivity, and overall contribution to the firm and the community. To encourage public service and professional development, the firm treats a certain amount of pro bono and associate development time as billable.
